Hong Kong Institute of Architects Annual Awards 2009
Edited by Catherine Cheung

The Hong Kong Institute of Architects (HKIA)
Annual Awards is the most prestigious accolade
for excellence in architecture by HKIA members.
Established in 1965 to recognise outstanding
architectural designs in and around Hong Kong,
the awards also invites overseas projects for the first time in
44 years to enter the competition for the Special Architectural Award.
The committee has received a total of 79 submissions for the year 2009,
including the Guangdong Museum by Rocco Design Architects Limited and
the new premises for Hongdeng Primary School by
the School of Architecture, the Chinese University of Hong Kong.

Richly illustrated with photographs,
renderings and drawings alongside the jury’s citation,
HKIA Annual Awards 2009 lists the winning and
shortlisted projects in each category,
judged by a panel of globally respected icons,
including Mr. Ole Scheeren, Mr. Victor Tsang and Mr. John Ng.
